Dr. Perez-Gurri comes from four generations of physicians, dating back to 1868. Medicine has always been a part of his life. He was mesmerized by his father’s work and enjoyed going into the operating room with him as a child. Early in his career, he immersed himself in medicine and soon discovered an inclination towards surgery.
As he entered medical school, goal-setting became a must. During those formative medical school years, he came across a lecture by renowned surgeon Dr. D. Ralph Millard, who significantly impacted his life. Fast forward a few years, and after finishing a full general surgery training, he entered a plastic surgery residency under the tutelage of Dr. Millard and never looked back.
Dr. Perez-Gurri’s success could have easily been foretold upon graduating cum laude from the University of Miami and in the upper one-third of his class at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
An artistically inclined person by nature, Dr. Perez-Gurri has long been interested in the intersection of art and science. This affinity for both subjects inevitably led Dr. Perez-Gurri to study plastic surgery, specifically aesthetics, which would become his passion. Dr. Perez-Gurri finds that in addition to being fascinating, aesthetic surgery is rewarding for both patient and surgeon.
Following his plastic surgery training, Dr. Perez-Gurri entered into private practice in the Metropolitan Miami area in 1985 and has been a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1986. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds membership in various national and regional Miami plastic surgery organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Chosen as a top Miami plastic surgeon by his peers, Dr. Perez-Gurri has had the privilege of serving as an invited expert panelist on cosmetic surgery in local, national, and international television programs.
